The Opportunity Orchard is on the lookout of an experienced mid-weight UX designer (freelancer) to join our Experience team. You might be ready to take the next step, or working currently at this capacity (we are looking for someone with at least 3-5 years’ experience) We're not just looking for someone to push pixels or churn out wireframes. Here at Orchard, we believe in understanding the whole user journey – every touchpoint, both online and offline. We're experience architects , crafting solutions that go beyond just websites. We’re looking for someone who sees themselves as a mix of UX designer, strategist and researcher. Key Responsibilities: User Research & Strategy: Plan and conduct user research activities, including user interviews, usability testing, surveys, and competitor analysis. Analyse research data to identify key insights and trends. Create user personas, journey maps, and other artifacts to communicate user needs. Contribute to the development of UX strategies that align with business goals and user needs Ability to facilitate requirements gathering workshops and brainstorming sessions to generate innovative ideas. Assist in defining information architecture and content strategy. Understand and leverage CMS and CRM capabilities UX Design: Translate user needs and business requirements into wireframes, user flows, and prototypes including functional annotations. Collaborate with UI designers to ensure visual consistency and brand alignment. Conduct usability testing and iterate on designs based on feedback. Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with developers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure that UX principles are integrated throughout the product development process. Clearly communicate design decisions and research findings to stakeholders. Participate in Agile sprint planning and review meetings. Key Skills: Strong understanding of UX principles and methodologies (and can flex to suit project needs, budget and timelines) Experience conducting user research and analysing data Proficiency in design and prototyping tools (e.g., Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD) Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong problem-solving skills Experience working with clients Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) Has some experience working with CMS platforms such as Optimizely, Drupal, AEM, Wordpress and Umbraco Some experience working on pitches and confident in presenting Can document and articulate functional requirements to describe their solution Applicants MUST have the right to work within Australia If you feel like this is the right job for you then please apply.
