Today, we draw on the power of more than 350 geotechnical engineers, engineering geologists, pavement engineers, hydrogeologists, geophysicists and laboratory technicians. With the extensive experience available within our Western Australian based team, the Group provides an extensive range of geotechnical investigation, design, consulting and construction support services. Depending on project requirements, these services may be integrated with other engineering and design teams provided by GHD and/ or project partners or provided directly as specialist geotechnical services to our clients. We are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join our established team of Geotechnical specialists in our Perth office. This role will provide a balance of technical work, project management, leadership and client-facing problem solving. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work across a broad portfolio of projects within a diverse and especially passionate national geotechnical team. You will deliver projects, as well as crafting and reviewing geotechnical work to provide our client's projects benefits for their communities. Working with a high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in: Opportunity to work across Western Australia and interstate in both short and long term assignments with a focus on developing a broad range of skills. Job management and preparation of proposals for geotechnical investigation, geotechnical design projects and construction support. Project planning and management, including financial management and sub-contractor and Client liaison. Conducting geotechnical site investigations in accordance with AS1726-2017, including desktop studies, fieldwork data gathering and scheduling of laboratory testing. This will require pre-fieldwork activities, such as safety risk assessments and management, inductions, partner liaison, making land access arrangements and document preparation. Fieldwork will include enabling activities (e.g. buried service locating and traffic management), supervision of subcontractors, data gathering (e.g. surface mapping, geophysics, borehole drilling, test pit excavation, cone penetration testing, auguring and in situ testing), groundwater monitoring well installation, ground sampling, and shipment of samples to a laboratory for testing. Preparing geotechnical site investigation reports, including laboratory testing management, data processing, assessment and interpretation of ground conditions and geotechnical design parameters, developing geotechnical design advice and report writing. Completing geotechnical analyses in relation to slope stability, shallow foundations, piled foundations, retaining walls, settlement assessment and soil structure interaction. Assisting senior engineers with the preparation of geotechnical interpretive reports, specifications, and other engineering reports. What you will bring to the team: Degree level qualifications in geotechnical, geological or civil engineering. Post graduate qualifications, particularly those in geotechnical engineering and/or engineering geology will be beneficial. A minimum of two years relevant geotechnical engineering experience, preferably in consulting, including site investigation and reporting experience. Open to travel and work on local or remote sites for extended periods of time as required for durations of up to 3 months (rostered work). A current manual WA drivers license (or equivalent). Confident in logging soil and rock in accordance with AS1726, with experience in using proprietary software, such as gINT and OpenGround. Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs and common geotechnical engineering software, such as Slide, SlopeW, LPILE and numerical modelling software. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and dedication to deliver high quality technical deliverables. A strong personal dedication to Health and Safety and alignment to HSE procedures.
