At the centre of this experience is Drive’s Marketplace, where buyers are presented with quality vehicles from handpicked dealers.Job DescriptionThis role facilitates Drive’s product and platform development by providing technical leadership, mentoring and governance to Drive’s technology squads. The role holds overall responsibility for delivery against the product roadmap along with key metrics on Site Performance, Platform Costs and Uptime/Reliability.A technical background, ability to lead / mentor Senior engineers, ability to set and maintain high standards on Velocity and Quality will be key to success in this role. This is a hands-on role where you will be expected to apply your technical skills to an area of the roadmap while overseeing other parallel initiatives.Key Responsibilities:Provide sound advice and guidance on all Engineering issues.Be accountable / responsible for all engineering activities.Take ownership of project reporting, provide input on artefacts such as WIP documents, board reports and internal presentations.Inspire, motivate and provide direction, support your direct reports and ensure they manage their respective squads effectively.Validate suitability of solutions incl. non-functional attributes such as performance, reliability and cost.Take ownership of delivering committed work across the various delivery squad.Take ownership of overall platform stability, cost, performance and maintenance.Develop and maintain effective working relationships and open channels of communication to ensure stakeholders are well informed.Represent Technology to the wider business, take ownership of key cross department communications – People / Process changes, Releases, Incidents, Achievements etc.Monitor delivery of services and provide feedback to vendors/contractors.Engage with external counterparts to ensure success delivery of project/initiative.QualificationsBachelor’s degree or better in Computer Science or a related disciplineExtensive experience and background in Software Development.Able to be hands-on in at least one core Engineering area – Front-End, Backend, API/Middleware or Infrastructure.Understanding of Cloud Infrastructure, Microservices, Distributed Systems, ETL processes etc. Able to contribute to and help validate solution architecture.Intermediate level certification in GCP or AWS will be plus.Demonstrated experience in a leadership role managing 5 engineers.Experience setting staff KPI’s, providing performance feedback, interviewing team members etc.Experience creating development plans, managing key man risks and succession planning.Track record of delivery against web/digital project in an iterative process such as Agile or Scrum.Experience managing multiple streams of work and collaborating with senior stakeholders.Experience generating OKR (Objectives & Key Results) level metrics for Projects for an executive audience and owning technical communications including timelines, risk and cost.Intermediate understanding of SQL and databases.Intermediate understanding of REST/GraphQL API’s.Understanding of web/digital publishing architectures and key systems such as CMSPractical understanding of Agile development process and practices for e.g.: backlog planning, test driven development, retrospectives etc.
