About the Role I'm seeking a skilled Network Engineer to take the lead in auditing, optimising, and enhancing the company's Cisco ASA firewall configurations. This role focuses on performing a comprehensive review of Access Control Lists (ACLs) to ensure the network remains secure, efficient, and aligned with industry best practices. Key Responsibilities Conduct detailed reviews and audits of Cisco ASA firewall ACLs for relevance, accuracy, and efficiency. Identify and document unused, redundant, or overly permissive rules. Propose and implement ACL improvements to enhance security and performance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including security and application teams, to validate rule usage. Execute configuration changes with precision, minimising business disruptions. Develop robust documentation of pre- and post-change configurations. Establish and contribute to ongoing processes for ACL lifecycle management. What I'm Looking For: Tertiary education in IT, Communications, or related fields (e.g., Bachelor's in IT or Electrical Engineering, CCNA/CCNP certifications). 4 years of hands-on experience with Cisco ASA firewalls, particularly ACL configurations. Solid understanding of network security principles and the ability to analyse firewall logs and rule performance. Proficient in creating clear and thorough documentation for configurations and audit findings. Familiarity with enterprise-level change control processes and the ability to navigate them seamlessly. Exceptional communication skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Desirable "Nice-to-Have" Experience (While not essential, experience in these areas will set you apart) Proficiency in tools like Ansible, Python, AWX, and REST APIs to streamline network operations. Familiarity with tools such as SolarWinds, Splunk, and TIG stack for monitoring and analysis. Identifying opportunities to reduce manual processes through automation. Why Apply?
