The role The Sales Manager forms part of a high performing team that is responsible for working closely with key associations, universities & colleges, research organisations and government departments, to attract and deliver large scale national conventions to Brisbane. As part of the role, you will be involved in the following Overseeing, managing and progressing a portfolio of bid opportunities to achieve personal and team targets; Qualifying leads and developing a deep understanding of customer needs to maximise bid conversion; Developing, delivering and presenting compelling bid proposals and presentations that align with client needs and objectives; Developing deep industry networks and relationships that support the ongoing success of the organisation; Providing a high level of customer service, communication and support to clients; Maintaining up to date customer records and keeping the broader team abreast of bid progress and bookings; Gathering market intelligence and developing strategies that increase the venues conversion of opportunities; and Attending relevant industry events and conducting site familiarisations as required. Key skills & experience required 3 years of demonstrated success in business development or senior sales position, specifically within the conventions, hotel or business events area; Demonstrated ability to prospect, research, qualify and convert leads; Experience in bidding and the tender process including stakeholder management; A consultative and engaging style with well-developed relationship building skills; Prior experience managing and converting long, complex sales cycles would be an advantage; Highly motivated and outcomes focused, coupled with a sound commercial acumen; Experience developing, delivering and presenting compelling bids and presentations; A professional, mature approach with the ability to work cohesively within a team environment; Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, coordinate and multitask; and High level of knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and databases including Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
