About the Role: UGL is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Mechanical Engineer specialising in tank design, construction, maintenance, and inspection within the Oil & Gas industry's Brownfield environments. The ideal candidate will hold qualifications as a Mechanical Engineer or be an accomplished tradesperson with API qualification or similar. Commencing work in July 2025, the role entails a comprehensive range of responsibilities, integrating engineering expertise with safety and quality assurance. Key Responsibilities: Provide expertise in the design, construction, and maintenance of storage tanks complying with API 650 and API 653 specifications. Collaborate within Brownfields environments of the Oil & Gas industry, ensuring effective strategies and solutions for tank engineering challenges. Uphold high Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards with a commendable safety attitude. Ability to identify risks and propose appropriate controls when participating in HAZOBs, HAZIDs, Risk Assessment workshops. Read, interpret, and produce CAD drawings to aid in tank-related projects. Oversee QA/QC processes regarding welding, fabrication, alteration, and inspection of tank structures as per API and ASME specifications. Evaluate the design equivalence between materials and manage various metallurgy concepts. Source standard material sizes and manage offsite fabrication with knowledge of the manufacturing market. Work alongside Process Engineering, Electrical and Instrumentation, and Civil teams to coordinate and execute tank works efficiently. Prioritize project deliverables, interpret schedules, and manage submission timelines effectively. Link design processes with practical constructability methods. Exhibit familiarity with cranes, lift studies, method statements, and SIMOPS within the Oil & Gas industry. Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey engineering concepts clearly to the broader team and stakeholders. Guide supervisors and trades personnel, mentor junior engineers, and act as a good listener and communicator. About You: To excel in this role, you will need: Minimum of 5 years' experience as a mechanical engineer, with experience in tank design, construction, maintenance, and/or inspection within the Oil & Gas industry. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualifications associated with tank engineering. Proficiency in QA/QC processes, and CAD drawing. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and an optimization/continuous improvement mindset.
