About the role We are seeking a Senior Specialist Technical Services Engineer to join our Technical Services team, based in Perth, with a Drill and Blast specialisation in Open Cut (Hard Rock) mining and Quarries. This role supports our key customer portfolio across Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory. The Technical Services team plays a pivotal role in delivering product stewardship, technical blasting projects, and advanced blasting solutions to our customers. By identifying opportunities where Orica’s technology can add significant value, the team operates at the forefront of innovation, leveraging the latest in blasting and digital technology. Reporting to the Technical Services Manager (West Metals), this role is also a key member of the Technical Services Leadership Team, contributing to business development, key account planning and implementing technical support strategies. Based in Perth with a Monday-Friday schedule, this role includes regular site travel (approximately 30%) to deliver technical solutions and support to our customers across the region. What you will be doing Mentor and upskill engineers and technicians by fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence within the team. Collaborate with the Leadership Team to shape business development plans, refine key account strategies, and align technical support with Orica’s growth objectives. Develop and deploy technical support strategies, including digital blast optimisation tools, data-driven insights, and tailored training programs for site teams. Spearhead customer engagement by delivering compelling presentations, facilitating technical forums, and acting as a trusted advisor in blasting innovation. Drive advanced technical support by troubleshooting blast performance issues, optimising designs, and implementing cutting-edge solutions to maximise efficiency and safety. Lead high-impact technical blasting projects, from initial scoping to execution, ensuring seamless delivery and measurable value for customers. Champion safety and best practices, ensuring strict adherence to SHES initiatives while pushing the boundaries of blasting innovation.
