Principal Engineer (Traded Risk) — The Rocks, Sydney

The Principal Engineer for Traded Risk Technology is a pivotal role designed to spearhead the development and standardization of engineering capabilities within the traded risk sector of our financial institution. This position demands not only a profound technical expertise in Java or C#, and SQL but also a strong capability in running batch processes with integration. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in coding, preferably in Java or C#, and an in-depth understanding of SQL, including writing and managing stored procedures. A key part of this role is to be a visionary leader who advocates for automating repetitive tasks and emphasizes reusability across the technology landscape. This role is ideal for a technology leader passionate about driving engineering excellence in the traded risk space, leveraging deep technical expertise and a forward-looking approach to shape the future of traded risk technology. If you are a hands-on coder with a vision for automating and standardizing tasks and have a strong background in engineering, we encourage you to apply. What do I need? Extensive experience with hands-on coding in Unix Shell Scripting, Java or C#, coupled with a robust understanding of SQL, including expertise in writing, and managing stored procedures. Proven track record of leading engineering teams, with a focus on developing and standardizing engineering capabilities within the traded risk domain. Experience in designing and running batch processes with a strong emphasis on integration and system connectivity. Proficiency with Control-M is essential. Strong advocacy for automating repetitive tasks, with a demonstrated history of implementing solutions that increase efficiency and promote reusability. Solid experience with DevOps practices and Agile methodologies, emphasising CI/CD, continuous improvement. Experience in traded risk or market risk environments would be highly advantageous.
