This role is classified as Level 3 role under SBS Australia's current Enterprise Agreement (with a base salary range of $89,140 - $96,482, full time equivalent). The successful applicant will be offered remuneration that is commensurate with their skills and experience and in alignment with this framework. As a rostered shiftworker, additional shift penalty payments may apply for work performed outside of ordinary hours, including weekends and public holidays, as per the SBS Enterprise Agreement (EA). SBS may also require you to work reasonable overtime, where overtime will be paid at applicable rates in accordance with the EA. The Role We have an exciting opportunity for a Digital Editor to join SBS News in our newsroomâ¯on a casual basis working shifts across a 7-day roster. We care about reaching all Australians - with a strong mandate for news stories that support, celebrate and appreciate the diversity of Australia’s multicultural society. We are looking for a dedicated and skilled reporter and editor to join the team on a rotating roster to create and edit content for SBS News' Digital platforms. This is a casualâ¯role that will involve shift work.Reporting into the News Editor (Digital), in this role you will: Pitch and write original content, including news coverage, features and explainers Conduct thorough news gathering with a strong awareness of trends, national and international news Commission stories and guide journalists to cover the most crucial stories of the day Commission visually rich assets to complement stories, and bringing forward ideas for innovative coverage Cover breaking news, sending app alerts and operating live blogs Use data and analytics tools to help inform editorial choices About you We are looking for a confident and creative writer with a strong eye for detail and the angles that matter to our audience. Ideally, you will have: Demonstrated experience as a digital editor and journalist for news titles. An understanding of media law, flawless subbing, and strong headline writing skills. A keen interest in what’s happening in the world to develop storytelling in new and innovative ways to reach and engage wider audiences. A passion for providing news for all Australians A hunger to understand and share new developments and trends in journalism and digital media. Good energy to collaborate across the newsroom to create unique and distinctive content that meets deadlines. News happens around the clock and you should be willing and able to undertake hours that may involve early mornings, evenings and weekends.
