Lead Software Engineer — The Rocks, Sydney

We are looking for a seasoned Lead Software Engineer who excels in steering teams and is backed by a robust foundation in algorithms, data structures, SOLID principles, and object-oriented programming. Our ideal candidate thrives in a dual role - contributing individually while also dedicating time to mentorship, shaping junior engineers into accomplished professionals. As a key player, you will define optimal team structures, enforce best practices and delegate workload distribution to prevent burnouts, foster inter-department collaboration, and enhance overall organisational synchronicity. Some of the things you will contribute to: Master design elements and tooling, encompassing assemblies, environments, formulas, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) Write production-quality code to support our engineering-grade models and 3D visualisations Build simulation engines that scale across millions of assets Optimise and debug rendering and memory performance Develop algorithms to generate accurate models from imperfect data Develop data structures that can perform in real-time with user interaction on large underlying data sets Work with a variety of data sources, including LiDAR, aerial photography & photogrammetry Work on real-time collaboration & live update algorithms Serve as a strong delivery role model and bring clarity to ambiguous projects Lift the technical bar and drive high-quality engineering practices across the engineering department to ensure high-quality, correct code output Lead projects and mentor both junior and senior engineers in hybrid teams Some attributes we highly regard: Algorithms and data structures Proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript/HTML/CSS/SASS Proficient in one of Python, Java, Kotlin, C++, Rust Familiarity with Dartcode and FEA experience is highly desirable Domain experience within the geospatial/utility space is a plus Mathematical reasoning ability - Mechanical/Civil engineering knowledge a plus Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field Some of the benefits we have on offer: Competitive salary & meaningful ESOP Fully flexible working arrangements with a well-stocked office in Redfern Regular office events The real benefit is working on a genuinely complex, innovative and industry-leading product, making a genuine difference in the world around us To apply, please use the online application link below.
