Council is currently offering an Engineering Cadetship to a first, second or third year student who is enthusiastic and highly motivated undertaking studies in Civil Engineering. The objective of the Cadetship Program is to develop highly skilled engineers within our organisation looking to gain practical work experience, be supported by industry professionals and want to make a difference within our community. Proposed start date: July/August 2025 The Cadet Engineer will engage in a variety of interesting and challenging tasks and projects. There is the opportunity for the successful candidate to gain a range of experiences across the Sector, including subdivisions, drainage, project management, traffic and transport planning, and operations on a rotation basis. Supervision and support will be provided in order to gain and enhance the Cadet Engineer’s skills. During the Cadetship Program the successful candidate will be required to commit to full-time employment with Wagga Wagga City Council whilst undertaking degree studies in Civil Engineering. Further information: The Cadet Engineer will: Assist with the ongoing development of the WWCC Traffic Model. Assist with the review of Technical Documentation. Assist with the development of Works Programs and associated estimates. Assist with Geotechnical investigations, road pavement designs and review of reports. Develop and co-ordinate Strategic Traffic Count program. Assist with the co-ordination of road infrastructure condition assessment, analysis of data, and development/review of relevant Condition Index systems/processes. Assist in the design of civil infrastructure projects. Assist in the preparation of high-quality construction drawings, to client specifications; ensuring compliance with relevant standards. Attend meetings and workshops as required. Assist with the preparation of correspondence and reports.
