Job description Hofmann Engineering is amongst the largest and most progressive specialist heavy equipment manufacturers in Australia. Due to the growth of the company we are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineering Technician to join the Bassendean workshop. Key Responsibilities: Ensure adherence to Safe Work Practices, according to Hofmann Engineering’s OH&S policies and the Occupational Health & Safety Act 1984; Ensure adherence to the Hofmann Engineering Quality Management system, and ensure that all projects under your control conform to Hofmann Engineering’s Quality and Management Systems; Ensure adherence to the standards specified in the Quality Management Manual, Procedures and Work Instructions; To comply with the requirements of ISO9001 regarding contract review; Ensure compliance and awareness of environmental legislation; Prepare drawings, plans and designs under the direction of Mechanical Engineers; Estimate material costs, quantities and machine requirements of projects under your control; Ensure designs and finished work are within the customers specifications, regulations and contract provisions; Maintain a professional and cordial relationship with clients and suppliers; To evaluate customer requirements and commit the company to delivery and price; To negotiate technical and commercial conditions with the customer’s representative; Provide clients with clear and honest information on status of their work without divulging confidential information belonging to other clients or to Hofmann Engineering; Liaise with the administration group in all financial, accounting, timekeeping and other administration matters; Maintain filing systems for jobs and tenders. Ensure contract (job) files contain Tender Review documents. Job files to contain a complete record of all transactions between the client and Hofmann Engineering: including enquiry, quote including workings, clients order, job scope, job cards, drawings, all job related test reports, all correspondence, variations, and QA documents. Ensure document control is maintained; Ensure that all quotes issued are recorded in the quote register; Advise Product Manager on all issues impacting on efficient progress of projects from a technical and commercial point of view; To liaise with engineering and manufacturing personnel regarding technical issues; To enter job cards into our computer system and project manage jobs; Ensure that you are entering timesheets to maximize the chargeable hours; It is imperative that the Mechanical Engineering Technician is able to operate our Syteline computer system; Submit quotations and commit the Company to Contracts up to the value of $20,000.00 (Unless of a more technical or contractual nature for which advice is needed. All quotes to be “buddy” checked and signed.) Quotes above this level must be referred to the appropriate Senior Manager for final signature; Place orders and commit the Company to purchase items within the scope of Work Instruction PUR003; To raise Job Cards, issue Work Scopes, issue NCR's, Contract Variations, Delivery Programs, TVR's, prepare ITP's and Quality Plans, prepare and sign off MDR's, within the authority levels stated; The Mechanical Engineering Technician is responsible to identify possible research and development projects that will benefit the product groups in your area. This includes: o Liaising the Product Manager, our engineering and technical departments; o That the various research and development projects are documented correctly; That this information is fed to our research and development team to ensure the improvement of products within his area Skills/Experience: A degree in Engineering from a reputable institution. Understanding of the Occupational Health, Safety Act 1984; Understanding of contracts and legal requirements; A knowledge of Australian and ISO Standards Hofmann Engineering Pty.
