This role is classified as Level 2 role under SBS Australia's current Enterprise Agreement (with a base salary range of $68,239 - $89,139, full time equivalent). The successful applicant will be offered remuneration that is commensurate with their skills and experience and in alignment with this framework. As a rostered shiftworker, additional shift penalty payments may apply for work performed outside of ordinary hours, including weekends and public holidays, as per the SBS Enterprise Agreement (EA). SBS may also require you to work reasonable overtime, where overtime will be paid at applicable rates in accordance with the EA. About the Role We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and driven Digital Journalist to join SBS News in our newsroomâ¯on a casual basis working shifts across a 7-day roster. We’re looking for someone who shares our vision and cares about providing reportage that matters. In this role, you will: Cover breaking news, daily developments, features and explainers for SBS News' digital platforms Pitch, report and write original stories that align with the SBS Charter Conduct interviews and undertake digital news gathering Contribute ideas in daily news meetings and collaborate across the newsroom Pitch visual storytelling concepts (e.g. graphics, interactives) and work with our design team to realise them Use analytics tools to inform story development and audience engagement About You We’re looking for someone who: Writes with clarity, creativity and accuracy, and thrives in fast-paced news environments. Has a nose for strong, original story ideas that reflect underrepresented voices. Understands media law, editorial balance and the importance of impartiality. Has demonstrated experience writing for a digital newsroom and producing distinctive content. Stays across news trends and digital innovation to connect with wider audiences.
