The Role Provide Legal Guidance: Advise internal stakeholders on healthcare laws and regulations, including HIPAA, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, and other compliance requirements critical to the industry. Review and Draft Contracts: Prepare, review, and negotiate contracts, including vendor agreements, clinical trial agreements, service-level agreements, and employee contracts to protect the organisation's interests. Regulatory Compliance: Collaborate with compliance teams to ensure the organisation adheres to federal, state, and local laws, including data privacy and information security regulations (e.g., HIPAA and GDPR). Risk Management: Identify legal risks and develop proactive mitigation strategies to safeguard the organisation's interests in healthcare delivery, partnerships, and other business dealings. Litigation Support: Assist with managing disputes, lawsuits, and regulatory investigations, and liaise with outside counsel when necessary. Policy Development: Develop and update internal policies and training programs on key issues, such as corporate governance, ethics, and compliance. Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with various departments, including human resources, compliance, risk management, and operations, to address legal concerns and align strategies. Your Skills & Experience Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. Experience in a legal role, preferably in the healthcare sector or for a law firm with a focus on healthcare law. Expertise: Thorough knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations, corporate governance, contract law, and regulatory compliance. Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively manage cross-functional relationships. Problem Solving: Ability to assess and resolve complex legal issues with sound judgement and an attention to detail. Time Management: Proven ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
