We deliver 28 key services such as childcare, waste collection, parks maintenance, libraries, community facilities and aquatic centres to over 380,000 residents. The role This role provides essential administrative support to the Waste Operations team and delivers high quality customer service to residents within the Canterbury Bankstown Local Government area. Duties will include but not be limited to: Manage non-compliance with garbage, recycling, and garden waste services on a daily basis Investigate and resolve issues related to new services, vacant land charges, and medical waste Conduct site visits across Council areas to assess and address waste-related concerns Handle complaints regarding unsatisfactory service delivery, escalating when necessary Collaborate with contractors to resolve customer requests and driver feedback Refer and track customer requests to the appropriate officers for timely action Develop and maintain waste management systems, procedures, and documentation Update and manage databases , including rates, second services, collection schedules, and strata contacts Monitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with service level agreements Respond promptly to issues raised through the waste call centre Prepare reports and analyse data on Waste and Cleansing activities and performance Communicate effectively with residents, stakeholders, and internal teams Stay informed on industry legislation, programs, and best practices; share insights with the team Coordinate with Rangers and Environmental teams to ensure dumped rubbish is handled appropriately Support trade waste services , including database management, invoicing, and contract oversight Verify contractor invoices for accuracy and process for approval Evaluate service improvement ideas and collaborate with stakeholders to implement changes Track progress toward Waste and Cleansing unit goals and objectives *For a full list of duties, click here to review the position description. You will have: Class C driver’s License Excellent customer service and problem resolution skills Ability to be adaptable and flexible to accommodate change and provide responsive services to meet customer needs Demonstrated experience in effective time management and the ability to meet multiple deadlines Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office and other software applications The salary range for this opportunity starts at $69,728 (Grade D, Step 1) 11.5% super.
