This Legal Counsel role is part of a well-resourced and collaborative team supporting a broad range of legal matters across the organisation. About the role: Reporting to the Head of Legal, you’ll be part of an experienced in-house legal team of around 6 professionals, working closely with key stakeholders across the business. This is a varied and hands on role that will suit a commercially minded lawyer who enjoys balancing legal requirements with practical, risk-based advice. Your responsibilities will include: Advising, drafting and reviewing across a broad range of legal matters including contracts, privacy, IP/IT, employment, property and leasing; Supporting project delivery with timely, solutions-focused legal input; Assisting in litigation and dispute resolution matters; Contributing to legal training and stakeholder education initiatives; Partnering with internal teams to simplify legal concepts and mitigate risk; Staying on top of legislative and regulatory changes and advising on impacts. Skills/Experience: To be considered for this role, you will have: At least 4 years’ post admission experience in corporate, commercial or property law gained in private practice (in-house experience including via secondment will be highly regarded); A current, unrestricted Queensland practising certificate; A collaborative and practical approach, with strong commercial judgment; Confidence engaging with a range of stakeholders and managing competing priorities; The ability to translate complex legal concepts into accessible, fit for purpose advice; and A positive, team oriented mindset and a genuine interest in the work of the organisation.
