About the role: We are looking for a capable and motivated general maintenance hand to join the ALS team at our analytical laboratory facility in Springvale, Melbourne. As a Building Maintenance Officer, you’ll be our go-to expert and support for a wide variety of onsite indoor and outdoor upkeep, repairs and improvements. This is a terrific opportunity to grow your skills base in a modern, growing business. All tools and equipment will be provided along with access to a site vehicle as required. Ideally the successful candidate would be available 2 days per week, with the ability to flex up hours if required. The Day to Day General repairs and maintenance of property, plant and equipment throughout the Scoresby facility. Responding promptly to equipment faults and critical breakdowns as well as general building maintenance, including painting and laboratory fit out. Fabrication of equipment and parts where required. Prioritising and delivering on a busy and diverse workload. Direct, timely communication with Managers, Team Leaders on issue resolution. Organising, coordinating and supervising contractors/trades support on multidisciplinary works Any additional tasks required by the Laboratory Manager. Follow HSE policies and procedures. Comply with current OHS legislation. Report and rectify any compliance concern, unsafe practice or environmental harm. The Essentials Experience in small-scale mechanical maintenance working in a production environment. Exceptional aptitude for trade skills. Trade qualifications (Carpentry, Plumbing or Electrical) will be well-regarded. A moderate level of fitness. Ability to work flexible hours and outside normal working hours if required. Ability to direct and supervise contractors on site. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. A proactive mindset, with the capacity to work both independently and co-operatively as needed. Ability to maintain maintenance records and data. Computer literacy including MS products (Word, Excel, Outlook). Willingness to work flexible hours.
