The Opportunity As the Engineering Manager, you will: Lead and mentor a cross-functional team of backend, frontend, QA and infrastructure engineers Oversee the technical delivery of our subscription platform and content management system features Ensure the development to drive quality assurance, secure, scalable, and reliable solutions across AWS environments Promote and enforce modern software engineering best practices, including CI/CD, test-driven development, peer code reviews, observability, and automation Organise and lead technical forums and hackathon events that inspire innovation and empower engineers to experiment and share new ideas. Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and editorial teams to plan, prioritise, and deliver on roadmap goals Champion the wellbeing and professional development of your team through coaching, clear feedback, and structured growth plans Guide architectural decisions while encouraging innovation and continuous improvement Required Qualifications 10 years of experience in software engineering, including 1-2 years in a leadership or technical team lead role Demonstrated experience building or supporting subscription platforms and CMS ecosystems Strong track record of cultivating high-trust, high-performance engineering teams Deep commitment to modern engineering best practices, including agile delivery, performance optimization, and clean, scalable architecture Exceptional communication and leadership skills with a strong focus on empathy and clarity Proven ability to drive technical strategy and support individual career growth Hands-on familiarity with technologies such as AWS native services, Terraform, Node.js, Python, React, or similar stacks Desirable Skills & Qualifications Background in media, publishing, or digital content delivery Experience leading distributed engineering teams across multiple time zones Why you should join us ACM's purpose is driven by our passion for keeping our communities strong, informed and connected.
