Darwin LNG Operator Traineeship Program Your opportunity to start a career in the dynamic Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) industry Operations Training Program -Commencing November 2025 Programmed Skilled Workforce, in partnership with Santos, are proud to offer Northern Territorians the opportunity to undertake operations traineeships at Darwin LNG. This will mark the ninth intake of where trainees undertake a Process Operator Traineeship at the Santos-operated Darwin LNG facility - home to some of the world's most advanced offshore and onshore processing systems. This is an exciting opportunity to become an integral part of the local LNG industry. As a Process Operator Trainee, you'll develop technical knowledge of hydrocarbon processing and ancillary systems and build real-world skills to safely and efficiently operate process facilities. On successful completion of the traineeship, you'll gain a nationally recognised Certificate III in Process Plant Operations (PMA30120) , which is a recognised standard in the Australian Hydrocarbon Industry. Trainees will be employed by Programmed and hosted by Santos for the duration of the traineeship. The program follows a competency-based learning and assessment model, with a nominal duration of 12-24 months, although completion time may be adjusted in line with the overall training schedule and cohort progression. To be successful, you will be a permanent NT resident, with a history of living and working in the NT. Key Learning Areas: Throughout the traineeship, you will learn to monitor and maintain production processes using advanced computerised control equipment to perform tasks such as: Controlling production processes and ensuring product quality Operating equipment and managing flow systems Diagnosing and responding to equipment malfunctions Conducting product sampling and analysis Participating in ship tie-up and loading activities Supporting equipment maintenance and plant shutdown planning Administering permits to work and participating in emergency response What to Expect: Gain hands-on experience at the Darwin LNG facility and other key sites across Australia in a traineeship that offers strong benefits and conditions from day one. Training blocks will be held at South Metropolitan TAFE in Munster, WA, requiring travel from Darwin A structured training program combining practical site-based learning at Darwin LNG and interstate training Ongoing mentoring and support throughout the program to ensure your success Essential Criteria Applicants who meet the following criteria are encouraged to apply for the DLNG Operations Training Program: Permanent NT resident (having lived and worked in the NT for at least 5 years), required to be permanently based in Darwin for the traineeship Ability to work flexible hours including 12 hours shifts, on day/night roster pattern Completion of year 10 and above Strong proven commitment to safety and enthusiastic team player Motivated with a high level of diagnostic, mechanical, verbal, and numeric reasoning skills Computer skills for general usage Ability and willingness to travel if required for training and/or site-based experience Desirable Criteria Operations experience outside the oil and gas industry and or trade qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g. Mechanical, electrical, instrumentation) is highly regarded, but is not essential. Industry experience in defence, manufacturing, mining, construction or light Industrial is also highly regarded, but not essential.
