HHDS Hills Housing & Disability Services, based in Mount Baker, SA has a vacancy got full-time Disability Support Worker. Purpose Assisting people with daily living tasks, community inclusion and participation activities. Support the client to maintain their wellbeing, explore opportunities, and work towards agreed outcomes. Key Responsibilities Provide quality, flexible and customised care designed for people living with a disability. Responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to: • personal care, health and well-being, community inclusion, meal preparation, independent living skills • increase capacity, independence, and community connections • maintain client records, data collection and reports in a professional manner • additional duties as directed Required Skills • An understanding and commitment to the rights of people living with a disability • Proven ability to understand, communicate with and effectively interact with people across cultures • Comply with the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013 and the NDIS Code of Conduct Rules 2018 • Manual handling competency: lifting, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling and repetitive actions • Effective communication, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills Pre-requisite and ongoing requirements • Drivers Licence and car insurance proof – alert us to all changes (must sight original to verify identity, and keep a copy on secure file for NDIS Audit) • DHS Clearance for Working with Children (SA) https://screening.sa.gov.au/applications/application-information-for-individuals • NDIS Worker Screening Employer ID 4-G4OUDLO https://screening.sa.gov.au/applications/application-information-for-individuals • Cert III Individual Support (Disability) or higher – or proof of enrolment • NDIS Online Training – all four modules (certificates) https://training.ndiscommission.gov.au/ • Assist with Medication (certificate), refresher every 12 months • Manual Handling (certificate), refresher every 24 months • Infection Control (certificate), refresher every 24 months Work Health and Safety While at work, a worker must: • Take reasonable care of his or her own health and safety and take reasonable care that his or her acts or omissions do not adversely affect the health and safety of other persons • Always demonstrate and uphold exceptional safety standards in accordance with any workplace health and safety requirements, to ensure your own safety and the safety of others • Comply so far as the worker is reasonably able, with any reasonable instruction by management and comply with HHDS’ policies and procedures relating to health and safety. • Proactively address any issues that may adversely affect the health and safety of any person(s) • Providing positive leadership and support for the WHS program, encouraging a culture of cooperation and consultation and personal responsibility across all operations, to ensure a safe and healthy workplace Salary - $76500 - $85,000 plus super This Position Description is a guide, not an exhaustive list and is not exclusive of additional responsibilities.
