As Legal Counsel, you’ll work closely with the General Counsel and play a key role in a small, agile team. You’ll collaborate with senior leaders, internal service lines, and Group Executives to deliver practical, commercial legal advice that supports Findex’s strategic goals. Please note : this position can be based in either Sydney or Melbourne. What will your typical week look like? Provide legal advice across all areas of the Findex Group, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements such as tenders, distribution agreements, settlement deeds, and services agreements. Support mergers and acquisitions by advising and drafting related documents in conjunction with the General Counsel. Manage legal requests within the team, oversee litigated matters (including maintaining litigation registers and preparing board reports), and act as the main legal service provider on projects as needed. Provide assistance to company secretarial functions including managing the staff share investment plan (SIP), maintaining records, drafting circular resolutions, and arranging document execution. Work alongside and provide guidance to fellow Legal Counsel and mentor team paralegal and contribute to coaching and professional development for yourself and the team. Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships across senior leadership and internal business units to effectively deliver commercial legal advice and support Findex’s strategic objectives. Qualified with a law degree and admitted as an Australian legal practitioner. Proven experience in running own matters independently. Strong people development skills with excellent communication, relationship management, and the ability to influence and negotiate effectively. Adaptable and innovative mindset, paired with commercial acumen and strategic thinking to support business goals. Solid technical knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Corporations Act, ASIC & APRA regulatory requirements, and company secretarial procedures. Proven expertise in contract negotiation, commercial law, and high-quality legal drafting.
