11th June, 2025 Begin your career in health at West Wimmera Health Service! We are looking for secondary school students in Year 11 or 12 who are eager to complete a school-based traineeship! Successful applicants will complete a Certificate III in Individual Support in a part time, fixed-term capacity - 13 hours per week (study and on-site work placement) based in Rainbow . ABOUT THE ROLE The school-based traineeship is for one year. Successful trainees will qualify as Health Care Workers with a Certificate III in Individual Support. Trainees are paid per hour for their study and work time. Training is undertaken under supervision of the school and is set by the RTO. Trainees will work the other day during the work week, shadowing qualified team members. As a student in our Health Care Worker School Based Trainee program, your 120 hours of clinical placement will be completed on your rostered workday, you must complete all theory components and submit assessments to complete the program. Health Care Workers will be required to always provide appropriate care to residents and must always comply with West Wimmera Health Service policies and procedures of the clinical unit for the duration of the traineeship and thereafter. KEY SELECTION CRITERIA: Essential: Effective communication and organisational skills. Ability to effectively communicate with the residents, families, carers and the community. An interest in working in an Aged Care Residential Facility as a Health Care Worker. Basic computer skills and knowledge. Prerequisites: NDIS Worker Screening Clearance. Working with Children Check. Fully vaccinated (including influenza) as per current Department of Health Directives.
