About the Role As an Energy Optimisation Engineer, you’ll design and implement optimisation, forecasting, and control algorithms that maximise the value of grid-scale renewables and battery storage assets. You’ll work across a portfolio of cutting-edge projects, applying your technical and analytical skills to improve project outcomes and drive profitability. This is a high-impact role for a detail-oriented engineer who’s eager to contribute to the future of energy. Key Responsibilities Develop and refine mixed-integer linear and nonlinear optimisation models for real-world grid-scale challenges Design algorithms to automate battery and renewable project operations for maximum economic and operational performance Serve as a market rules expert, staying up to date with wholesale energy market developments Analyse market data and project performance to identify areas for improvement and innovation Collaborate with a team of engineers and data scientists to build scalable and robust solutions Contribute to new feature development that advances the company’s product offerings This role supports:: Energy Optimisation – performance and revenue maximisation for battery and renewable assets Grid Integration – navigating complex market rules and grid operations Data-Driven Engineering – combining energy market data and advanced analytics for better decisions Clean Energy Transition – supporting the shift to a decarbonised grid with economically sound solutions Candidate Profile You’ll have at least 5 years of experience building complex optimisation models (mixed-integer linear and/or nonlinear) to solve real-world problems. A strong knowledge of energy markets, battery storage, virtual power plants, and renewable energy is essential. Proficiency in Python and adherence to professional software engineering standards are also critical. Strong communication skills, curiosity, and an ability to translate data insights into actionable solutions are key.
