Information Technology Services (ITS) Full-time, permanent position Base salary will be in the range $100,554 - $109,496 17% Superannuation (HEW Level 7) Based at our St Lucia location About This Opportunity As a Senior Network Engineer (locally known as Principal Engineer, IT Networks/Infrastructure), your primary focus will be delivering expert technical and analytical support across the University's campus and datacentre network infrastructure. You’ll play a key role in the design, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of network services that support critical I.T. operations. Embedded within the Infrastructure Operations team, you'll thrive in a collaborative and technically diverse environment, contributing to both daily operational support and strategic projects that enhance the university's digital capabilities. Key responsibilities will include: Provide high-level operational support for campus and datacentre networks, including incident response, troubleshooting, and resolving service tickets. Contribute to the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of network infrastructure. Perform proactive maintenance, health checks, and assist in the research and development of emerging network technologies. Offer senior technical advice, mentorship, and support to team members while participating in after-hours on-call rotations. Broad understanding of general computing concepts, with particular expertise in networking and infrastructure. Cisco CCNA certification or significant hands-on experience with Cisco network infrastructure. Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining modern communications infrastructure, with expertise in one or more areas such as routing/switching, network security, wireless LAN, datacentre networks, or network management platforms. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to diverse audiences. A methodical, detail-oriented engineering approach with strong organisational and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to deliver high-quality service outcomes both independently and within a team environment. Experience providing technical guidance or mentoring in a collaborative team setting.
