ABOUT THE BRANCH The Central Budget Management System (CBMS) branch provides day-to-day management and support of CBMS to entity and business users. In conjunction with IT Services branch, the CBMS branch manages the CBMS solution and ICT infrastructure. CBMS is a SAP based application. The CBMS is the Whole-of-Government ICT system underpinning the budget and financial management of the Australian Government. It manages the flow of financial information between Finance and Australian Government entities to facilitate cash and appropriation management, the preparation of budget documentation and financial reporting. The CBMS is used to: prepare and publish documentation for the Federal Budget, Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook (MYEFO) and other estimates updates manage annual appropriations, special appropriations, special accounts and the Official Public Account (OPA) (collectively referred to as Cash Management) - produce the whole-of-government monthly financial reporting - produce the whole-of-government annual financial reporting (i.e. Final Budget Outcome (FBO) and the Consolidated Financial Statements (CFS)). The CBMS solution platform is designed as a highly available environment. It utilises the SAP product suite at the application layer, VMware at the virtual layer, and Hitachi hardware and software for compute, storage and backup. The key duties of the position include THE OPPORTUNITY The BASIS Administrator role in the CBMS Platform Enablement team is essential in executing end-to-end administration, design, and consultation for maintaining the availability and reliability of our SAP landscape. The successful candidate will be part of the team in charge of managing the SAP instances, including applications infrastructure, integration and performance tuning. This may include support to: Australian Government Budget process Public Sector financial reporting including AASB accounting standards & Government Finance Statistics reporting Whole of Government consolidations and SAP's Business Consolidation System Continuous improvement to the CBMS policy, process and procedures Contribution towards system design and architecture, including a cloud migration The role requires well developed technical skills, stakeholder management and communication skills. This role liaises with technical staff from supporting vendors, the broader Finance technology division as well as internal support and SME staff directly supporting key Finance business users. An APS6 SAP BASIS Administrator will be responsible for the installation, upgrade, and maintenance of SAP systems under the direction of the Team Lead. They will also learn to configure, monitor, tune and troubleshoot the SAP technical environment, maintain and operate the SAP transport landscape, integrate SAP and external systems, optimise and analyse performance issues, design architectures of the landscape. This role will also be extensively involved in a SAP Analytics Cloud migration in the coming 2-3 years. The role requires system administration experience ideally with SAP applications including: SAP S/4HANA. SAP Business Warehouse. SAP Business Objects. SAP Solution Manager. SAP Cloud ALM. SAP Analytics Cloud. SAP BTP. The core duties of this role include: Monitor the SAP system for health and performance issues. Manage system landscape configurations and operations. Handle batch job creation, control, and management operations. Conduct regular system maintenance, including system copies, and transport management. Support SAP Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) from lower environments to Production. Perform SAP Kernel upgrades, monitor and implement SAP OSS notes, and apply SAP add-ons and support packages. Resolve failures and implement recommendations. Liaise with SAP and progress resolution of issues as needed. Participate in the planning and implementation of SAP system upgrades. Work jointly with service providers for related tasks. Maintain awareness of the cyber threat landscape. Participate in an on-call roster, support after-hour releases, and provide 24/7 support for Sev1&2 incidents as needed.
