What are we looking for? We are looking for a driven and detail-savvy Database and Administration Officer to power the engine behind Treaty negotiations. In this pivotal role, you will provide essential support to keep negotiations moving, including managing vital data systems, coordinating processes and enabling communities to participate equitably in agreement-making. You will bring your administrative and technical skills from sectors like social services, community development or law and help build smart, effective systems that support real change. To thrive in this role, you'll bring: Strong database administration skills – You’ll be the key contact for the Treaty Authority’s Negotiations Database, responsible for data entry, record creation, system monitoring and ensuring data is accurate, current and aligned with First Peoples Data Sovereignty and privacy policies. Excellent information and case management experience – From managing contact registers and filing systems to generating reports and updating internal procedures, you’ll help keep everything organised, compliant, and accessible. Reliable and professional administrative support – You will support the team with meeting coordination, travel arrangements, document preparation, email triaging and project assistance, all while ensuring things run smoothly and efficiently. Attention to detail and strong communication – Whether you are responding to queries, proofreading critical documents or maintaining high-quality records, your precision and professionalism will be key. Experience in a relevant sector – A background in social services, community development, law or a similar field will help you understand the context and contribute meaningfully to the work. About the Treaty Authority The Treaty Authority is an independent entity with a mandate to facilitate the formation of treaties between the State of Victoria and First Peoples in Victoria. The Treaty Authority’s work is grounded in Aboriginal culture, lore and law and led collectively by a panel of five Members committed to Aboriginal self-determination and empowerment. It engages with a broad cross-section of stakeholders including the State of Victoria, the First Peoples’ Assembly and Traditional Owners in Victoria. The objects of the Treaty Authority’s work are to: Facilitate the journey towards reconciliation, mutual respect and tolerance between First Peoples and other people of the State and to Maintain, promote and advance the self-determination and empowerment, culture and human rights of First Peoples. What you’ll bring: The Treaty Authority is looking for someone who combines sharp administrative skills with a genuine commitment to supporting First Nations self-determination. You will be organised, detail-oriented and comfortable navigating fast-paced environments - all while upholding cultural integrity and data governance principles, including: Relevant qualifications and/or experience in a similar administrative or coordination role Strong computer literacy, including advanced Excel and experience with databases or CRM systems Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities and deadlines High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and data integrity Proven experience developing and managing office systems, tools and processes Ability to book and coordinate travel, meetings and events with efficiency Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently across diverse groups A collaborative, adaptable mindset with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team Knowledge of Aboriginal communities and organisations in Victoria is preferred Understanding of, or interest in, Indigenous Data Governance principles Passion for contributing to meaningful reform that benefits First Nations people in Victoria Ready to make a difference?
