Automation Engineer — Smithfield, Parramatta Area

Own the automation and controls roadmap Be a part of an Australian-owned FMCG Fun, supportive team with real growth potential The Role Our Smithfield site in Western Sydney, manufactures a range of more than 60 fruit juice, fruit drink and water ice products. The site currently manufactures approximately 110 million litres of finished goods every year including The Juice Brothers, Daily Juice, Mildura and Zooper Dooper. We have a great opportunity for an experienced Automation Engineer to join our Engineering team. In this role, you will report to the Engineering Leader and oversee the automation control strategy on-site. You will provide technical expertise to support manufacturing, quality assurance, maintenance, capital projects, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, self-driven individual who prioritises tasks and solves problems. Responsibilities Provide specialist technical support for manufacturing as required Actively contribute to continuous improvement projects using automation to improve production capability and reliability Implementation of PLC/HMI/SCADA/MES projects and/or specifying a scope of work to be implemented by external contractors Design, implementation and validation of PLC, HMI, SCADA & MES software changes that are required for the automated plant processes Provide high-quality technical documentation for system design, functional specifications, reports, change management, testing & commissioning Assist & mentor production team members to better understand the automation controls & impacts About you Prior experience in automation, particularly in the FMCG industry, is preferred. Additionally, experience in process engineering will be highly valued High-level expertise in PLC and SCADA programming, HMI, and MES development and configuration, including Rockwell, Proficy iFIX, and Ignition. Solid understanding of S88 Batch principles, with familiarity with Zi-Batch being a plus Strong process improvement skills, along with excellent analytical and strategic problem-solving abilities Proven ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships at all organisational levels Bega Group Story Bega Group is home to many trusted and iconic food and beverage brands.
