Your role at St John of God Accord We are currently seeking applications from enthusiastic and motivated Disability Support Workers to provide the highest level of support to individuals who attend Accord’s Community Engagement Services (ACES) within our North, South, West and Eastern Melbourne sites. As a Disability Support Worker, you will be required to work a variety of shift types including morning, day, afternoon and evening shifts. Positions will be offered on a Casual basis with potential for permanency for the right candidate/s, with a variety of hours being offered throughout the week. The Position Assist a person or group of people to successfully; carry out day to day activities; maintain the best possible state of physical and emotional well-being; form family and social community connections; and manage their finances. All caregivers who work in an Accommodation settings will be required to work a variety of shift types including morning, day, afternoon, evening, sleepover and at times when required active overnight support shifts. Ensure you provide a safe working environment. Carry out the role of Key Worker as per Accord’s guidelines. Maintain handwritten and electronic records including but not limited to; file notes and incident reports, case reviews, Person Centred Plans (PCP); OH&S, client and household finances, medical documentation and other relevant documentation with confidentiality and accuracy. Provide the highest level of support for all clients and ensure each person supported is treated with respect that enhances their personal worth, dignity and rights, always. You will have experience liaising with families and circles of support, service providers and community groups, sound written & communication skills, able to multi-task and work under pressure and capable of working independently with an individual or group of people. Successful applicants must be eligible for a NDIS screening check, hold a valid Australian Drivers Licence, Working with Children check and First Aid certificate. Experience in the disability sector and/or possession of a relevant qualification will be highly regarded.
