Software Engineer - OOAD — Perth, Perth Region

About the Role We’re looking for a mid to senior-level Java Developer to join the team. You’ll work across a mix of new project delivery and ongoing enhancement/support (BAU) across various government and enterprise sites. You’ll be involved in full-stack development (Java back end with a JavaScript front end such as Angular or React), so you’ll need a strong foundation in object-oriented programming and modern software engineering principles. Please note: You must be eligible to pass a government background check to be considered. What You’ll Be Doing • Designing, developing, and supporting enterprise-level Java applications • Working on both project-based and BAU enhancement work • Collaborating with internal teams and client stakeholders to scope and deliver functional solutions • Contributing to a codebase involving Java, Linux-based environments, and front-end technologies • Participating in Agile sprint cycles and occasional client meetings onsite Skills & Experience Required • 5 years’ experience in Java development • Exposure to JavaScript front-end frameworks such as Angular or React • Background in software engineering with understanding of OOAD principles • Previous experience or exposure to C/C++ (desirable) • Experience in Linux environments and standard web technologies • Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with business and technical teams • Full working rights in Australia and current residence in Perth • Ability to be on-site in 3-4 days a week (Wednesday is required) Preferred Experience • Experience working in government or regulated environments • Knowledge of GWT, Tomcat, or Wildfly • Understanding of legacy system migration and integration What’s in it for You? • Work on meaningful projects supporting WA’s public sector • Gain exposure to both modern and legacy tech stacks • Be part of a stable, collaborative team with long-standing clients • Long-term growth opportunities with plenty of learning on the job • Great culture, flexible work model (3 days onsite), and strong support for developers Want to know more?
