Job Description The Intermediate Mechanical Engineer position is part of the Engineering Services team and works closely with the Engineering team and members of the Capital Works and Minor Projects (CWMP), Campus Facilities Management and Major Projects and Planning teams to deliver new capital works projects for the University and help solve complex maintenance problems. Griffith owns and operates over 500,000m2 of facilities over 5 locations with an asset portfolio in excess of $2 billion. This provides opportunities to work on the design and operation of critical and highly complex facilities such as PC2 and PC3 research laboratories, nuclear medicine facilities, data centres, applied science facilities, dental teaching and healthcare clinics, libraries, art galleries, and music performance and teaching spaces. We have an inhouse BMS team to help you consolidate your understanding of the design and operation of mechanical services, and inhouse electrical, hydraulic and fire engineers to enhance your understanding of associated trades and coordination of engineering services. Working alongside our project managers, you can also gain experience in aspects of project management such as programme management, cost management and contract administration. We also offer mentorship to help you achieve professional recognition of relevant engineering institutes. There are opportunities to collaborate with the academic engineering staff to further your knowledge and provide guidance to the next generation of industry leaders. Key responsibilities include: Form a key part of the mechanical engineering team within the Engineering Services team. Draft briefs for new build and refurbishment projects and contribute to all stages of the project, including site inspections and commissioning, through to end-of-life. Update and maintain Mechanical Services infrastructure information and support the facilities management team with complex tasks. Deliver engineering projects with an asset replacement and / or energy efficiency focus. You have: A degree in Mechanical Engineering (recognised in Australia) with current membership of a recognised engineering institution, and on a pathway to achieving RPEQ. 4 years minimum post-graduate work experience in an Australian building services engineering consultancy, ideally working on University, laboratory or hospital facilities. Team-focus with the ability to engage with a wide variety of clients and stakeholders whilst working proactively with project managers, maintenance and asset management staff to improve the performance of our engineering assets at all our campuses. What we can offer This is a continuing, full time position and whilst it is based at the Griffith University, Brisbane South (Nathan) campus, you will be regularly required to work across other campus locations at Mt Gravatt, Gold Coast, Logan and South Bank Brisbane. Salary HEW 7 Salary – Base range: $101,068.27 - $109,496.54 17% super. Full package range: $118,249.89 - $128,110.96.
