Applications close Sunday 22 June 2025 at 11.00pm AEST (Job Reference Number - R-51783) Based at our St Lucia campus About This Opportunity As a Library Peer Assistant, you will enhance the student experience by fostering a welcoming and supportive atmosphere within library spaces. This role involves actively engaging with students, delivering introductory sessions and peer-to-peer guidance, and connecting them with essential library resources and services. You will also contribute to student experience initiatives throughout the year and shape the development of a peer support model based on your own university insights, all while reporting to the Manager, Technology Training. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Address initial library enquiries, offering directional guidance and referring students to AskUs and external support services via various channels. Deliver engaging introductory sessions in collaboration with relevant teams during key student periods (e.g., Orientation, Exam Support) and contribute to student experience events. Assist the Spaces and Site Services team, particularly in areas without dedicated service points, and liaise with Faculty/School student groups and services for effective referrals. Co-develop a peer support model leveraging student expertise and lived experience and participate in training and team meetings to enhance service delivery and maintain compliance with privacy regulations. About You Essential Current UQ student with at least two semesters completed, demonstrating a strong passion for enhancing the connection between the library and students. Excellent and engaging interpersonal skills with proven ability to communicate effectively with students (in-person and virtually), contribute actively to a team, and provide peer-based advice on university life. Demonstrated experience or transferable skills in proactively engaging with students (individually and in groups), delivering presentations or events, and providing welcoming and supportive customer service to diverse clients, including during challenging situations. Experience in self-organisation, self-motivation, and the ability to work autonomously, coupled with familiarity of UQ's support services for students (Library, faculties, student groups, and external resources). Desirable Previous experience as a student leader/peer mentor/ambassador.
