The legal team plays a pivotal role in enabling these transformative projects by managing risk and ensuring legal integrity. About the Role As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will provide comprehensive legal support to project teams and senior management. This includes advising on corporate and project structuring, regulatory compliance, risk management, and governance matters. The role will see you engage with internal and external stakeholders, support investment decisions, and ensure legal frameworks align with global best practices in energy transition and sustainability. Key Responsibilities Advise on structuring and delivery of renewable energy and alternative fuels projects Draft and negotiate project agreements, joint ventures, and corporate governance frameworks Navigate regulatory compliance and approvals for large-scale developments Identify and mitigate legal and commercial risks across project lifecycles Support M&A activity, joint ventures, and financing arrangements for decarbonisation assets Provide legal input into strategic planning and risk allocation Engage with external counsel on complex or cross-jurisdictional matters Support board and executive-level decision-making with clear, commercially focused advice Contribute to knowledge-sharing and mentoring within the legal team This role supports clients across: Project Development – structuring, land access, approvals, and stakeholder agreements Corporate & Commercial – joint ventures, procurement, and governance Sustainability & Decarbonisation – renewable energy, alternative fuels, and industrial change Regulatory Compliance – NER, energy market frameworks, and environmental approvals Dispute Management – oversight of project disputes and risk allocation via external counsel Candidate Profile You are a qualified lawyer with 7–12 years of post-admission experience in project development, corporate law, or major energy/infrastructure projects. You have advised on complex transactions and regulatory issues and have a collaborative mindset with a commercial focus. Experience in renewables, energy transition, or major project development will be highly regarded.
