The Gig Step into a vital HSE Advisor role supporting safety outcomes on one of NSW’s most sustainable infrastructure projects. This major government-backed development in Kurnell includes extensive parklands, large-scale earthworks, utilities, drainage, and the construction of a cutting-edge resource recovery facility. Reporting to the Delivery Manager and working closely with engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors, you’ll ply your trade and take the lead in ensuring on-site health, safety, and environmental compliance across all work fronts. From hazard identification and risk management to safety training and systems improvement, your focus will be on protecting people, improving processes, and helping build a high-performance site culture. You will be trusted with: Conducting daily and weekly site inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance Supporting and refining the HSE Management System, processes, and documentation Undertaking and reviewing task-based risk assessments and high-risk work permits Investigating incidents, near misses, and unsafe acts, and driving corrective actions Leading daily pre-starts, toolbox talks, site inductions, and safety briefings Assisting in the development and implementation of Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) Promoting awareness of environmental controls, erosion, dust suppression, and site cleanliness Developing and communicating Emergency Response Plans and First Aid readiness Monitoring subcontractor compliance and assisting with site audits Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives to raise safety culture and performance Preparing safety reports and trend analysis for project management Acting as a point of contact for on-site health, safety, and environmental queries What’s In Your Toolbox? Minimum 2 years’ experience in an HSE role within the civil or construction industry Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or higher) Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management, and incident reporting Experience managing or contributing to HSE systems on active civil construction sites Confident communicator who engages teams and builds a strong safety culture White Card and current Driver’s Licence You’re confident on site, approachable with crews, and committed to keeping people safe. You stay calm under pressure, manage competing priorities, and work proactively to reduce risk and drive continuous improvement.
