The Role: We’re looking for an experienced Embedded Software Engineering Manager to lead a small, high-performing team of engineers who develop and deliver mission-critical communications systems for military and industrial use. This is a hands-on technical leadership role with both strategic and operational responsibilities across multiple domains. What You’ll Be Doing: Lead a diverse technical team: 10 engineers, including DSP experts, embedded software developers, and wireless researchers Oversee day-to-day engineering operations : planning, prioritising tasks, quality control, and timely delivery across several concurrent projects. Contribute to strategic planning : align team resources with business goals, scope future projects, and help shape technical proposals. Support customer engagement : work with defence clients and international manufacturers to manage project expectations, timelines, and deliverables. Drive technical excellence : ensure software development is underpinned by robust engineering processes, tools, and documentation standards. Hire, mentor, and retain top talent : help grow the team while maintaining a strong, collaborative engineering culture. What You’ll Bring: 12–15 years of industry experience in software engineering, ideally with embedded systems, wireless communications, or defence applications. A solid track record of managing engineering teams and delivering complex technical projects. Excellent written and verbal skills are essential – from documentation to cross-team collaboration and client interaction. The ability to think beyond the code and contribute to long-term technology and business decisions. Degree in Wireless Comms, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or similar. You must be an Australian citizen.
