To support this next phase of growth, we’re looking for a Senior Safety & Risk Engineer to join their specialist team. The Role This is a senior-level position for an accomplished Safety & Risk Engineer who brings both technical expertise and commercial awareness. You’ll take the lead in delivering high-value safety and reliability risk assessments, while also playing an integral role in guiding clients, developing internal capability, and contributing to the strategic direction of projects and services. Key Responsibilities Independently lead complex risk and safety studies including HAZID, QRA, LOPA, SIL determination, and safety case authorship. Apply advanced modelling techniques using recognised industry software to perform consequence and quantitative risk assessments. Conduct critical reviews of high-risk chemical and energy operations, identifying key hazards and recommending mitigation strategies. Interpret and apply international legislation, safety codes, and process standards across diverse technical settings. Design and facilitate technical workshops such as HAZOP and Bowtie, ensuring robust outputs and high stakeholder engagement. Manage client portfolios, offering strategic advice, feasibility assessments, and detailed reporting to senior stakeholders. Oversee full project life cycles, ensuring outcomes are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned to budget targets. Play an active role in marketing and business development activities, including proposal writing and industry representation. Mentor and technically support junior engineers, contributing to a culture of growth and knowledge sharing. Skills and Experience We’re looking for an experienced professional with: A degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering (or a related field). Extensive experience in process safety, risk assessment, or technical safety consultancy. Strong leadership in facilitating HAZID/HAZOP and executing QRAs and SIL assessments. High proficiency with risk modelling tools and techniques. In-depth understanding of industry standards, safety regulations, and legislative frameworks. Technical knowledge of refining, separation, or energy transformation processes. Demonstrated experience in managing client relationships and leading multi-stakeholder projects. Exceptional communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills. A natural ability to lead, coach, and influence across teams.
