EL1 Senior Software Engineer — Barton, South Canberra

Initial contract duration for 12 months with e xtension term of 12 months Number of extensions: 2 Location: ACT, NSW, QLD, VIC Security Requirements: Must be able to obtain Baseline Working Arrangements: Hybrid IP Australia is based in Canberra. It is preferred that the successful candidate work from the office with flexible arrangements, however remote working (offsite) will be considered within the same time zone. If based offsite, it is expected that the successful candidate will travel to IP Australia Office for 2-3 days to complete onboarding. As well, they are expected to travel to Canberra as required, typically not more than 4 times per year, at their own expense. Job details Software Engineers have experience overseeing software development projects, writing optimised code, and provide technical leadership to a team of software engineers. They are responsible for the quality and functionality of the software produced by their team. An Exciting opportunity exists for a Full Stack Developer, within Innovation and Digital Services at IP Australia. As part of the AI & Frontier Technologies team, you will contribute to the application of emerging technologies and innovative approaches to help further the agencies vision through the delivery of software systems. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience as a software developer, delivering production capabilities as part of a multi-disciplinary team. You will play an important role in writing and delivering software components alongside other software developers and machine learning engineers to provide important capability to IP Australia and its customers. The ideal candidate will have proven experience with Agile delivery practices, experience delivering solutions using the AWS platform (with a strong emphasis on serverless applications), experience with DevOps practices, the ability to work autonomously under broad direction, and excellent communication skills. Key duties and responsibilities Software Development: Write and deliver software components in collaboration with other software developers and machine learning engineers. Develop production capabilities as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Emerging Technologies: Contribute to the application of emerging technologies and innovative approaches to support the agency's vision. Deliver solutions using the AWS platform, with a strong emphasis on serverless applications. Communication: Maintain excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders. Essential Criteria Extensive experience in developing solutions using JavaScript / TypeScript, ideally the Vue.js framework. Experience developing and maintaining solutions using Python. Experience implementing DevOps practices with CI/CD tools (ideally Jenkins). Relevant ICT qualifications and certifications. Desirable Criteria Infrastructure-as-Code (AWS CDK) AWS (particularly Serverless application delivery) Effective communication skills with ability to explain or translate complex systems to business stakeholders.
