Media Operations Engineer — Macquarie Park, Ryde Area

We are looking for skilled Media Operations Engineers to join our team and play a crucial role in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our newly built broadcast operation control facilities. The engineer will ensure the flawless operation of streaming, live production, and related systems while contributing to the expansion and development of these capabilities as Optus Sport grows. Working closely with our other Operational & Engineering teams, you will help maintain high service delivery for match fixtures and support industry-leading uptime figures, primarily focusing on our European-based leagues. This role involves shift-based work to align with live broadcast schedules, including weekend and overnight coverage. As the broadcast operation control facilities develop the role will initially involve close collaboration with the project team during the facility setup and testing phase during business hours but as systems are implemented and workflows transition, the role will shift to a more standard operationally focused roster. Ready to reimagine your career at Optus? Manage daily operations of the Master Control Room, ensuring smooth and timely broadcast and production activities. Experience in Playout & Presentation systems used for broadcast operations. Conduct routine maintenance, repairs, and upgrades on broadcast equipment, including servers, routers, and monitors. Diagnose and resolve technical issues during live broadcasts to minimise downtime and operational disruptions. Maintain high audio and video quality standards by supervising signal integrity, video/audio levels, and incoming PIDs. Implement and manage emergency response plans for technical failures, ensuring quick resolution and minimal disruption. Keep accurate logs of broadcast activities, maintenance, and technical issues; prepare performance reports and track system improvements. It starts with you! Relevant qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Broadcasting, or demonstrated ability and experience in broadcast or production systems. Expertise in broadcast equipment and software, including servers, routers, switchers, and automation systems, with strong troubleshooting skills. Proven track record to lead, mentor, and develop junior team members whilst encouraging team collaboration. Familiar with industry regulations and standards, with a deep understanding of sports, particularly International Football leagues like the Premier League and Women’s football. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively across teams, offering and responding to feedback. Ability to adapt to non-traditional work hours, actively improve processes, and demonstrate ownership of tasks with attention to detail and excellent planning skills.
