Role Snapshot Support major infrastructure transactions across energy, digital, and industrial asset portfolios. Advise on project delivery frameworks, procurement, construction, and regulatory contracts. Partner with internal stakeholders across legal, development, and commercial teams. The in-house legal team plays a key role in enabling complex project delivery, managing legal risk, and ensuring commercial alignment across business units. About the Role As Legal Counsel – Major Projects, you’ll provide in-house legal support across a wide range of infrastructure transactions, particularly focused on renewable energy generation (solar, wind), battery energy storage systems (BESS), and large-scale data centre developments. Working within a high-performing legal and governance team, you will draft, negotiate, and manage project and procurement contracts, advise on planning and regulatory compliance, and support strategic partnerships across Australia. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in project development, construction law, or energy and infrastructure advisory. Key Responsibilities Draft and negotiate key contracts, including EPC, O&M, connection agreements, offtake, and services agreements. Provide legal advice on project delivery structures, risk allocation, and regulatory requirements. Support early-stage development activities including land access, planning, and grid connection issues. Assist with legal due diligence and transaction execution for new project investments. Advise on compliance with environmental, planning, and energy market regulations. Collaborate with external counsel to manage complex legal matters and project milestones. Support internal stakeholders in commercial, development, and project management teams. Contribute to legal knowledge-sharing and training across the business. This role supports commercial activity across: Renewable Energy Projects – utility-scale solar, wind, and hybrid generation. Battery Storage Assets – BESS planning, grid integration, and operations. Data Centre Infrastructure – contracts, delivery, and energy market interfaces. Project Development & Construction – procurement, delivery frameworks, and land agreements. Planning & Environmental – permitting, land use, and regulatory frameworks. Candidate Profile 8 years’ post-qualification experience, ideally in infrastructure, energy, construction, or major projects. Proven ability to negotiate and draft a wide range of commercial contracts. Familiarity with project delivery, regulatory frameworks, or grid-connected infrastructure. Experience advising on energy, property, or data infrastructure developments is highly regarded. Skilled communicator with the ability to engage cross-functional stakeholders.
