Location: Port Kembla Sector: Manufacturing, Heavy Industry Type: Contract, multi- year project About the Role: Are you a highly organised and safety-driven Logistics professional looking for a pivotal role in a major industrial project? Our client, a leading manufacturing organisation, is seeking a dedicated Logistics Coordinator to support a critical project. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in the Feasibility and Execution phases of a significant capital project. You will be instrumental in ensuring the safe, efficient, and secure coordination of equipment logistics, from initial delivery and inspection through to long-term storage and eventual transport to site. Your Impact Will Include: Project Logistics Coordination: Actively managing the safe transport, handling, and storage of all equipment for the Project, ensuring timely delivery to designated warehouses and laydown areas. Inspection & Preparation Oversight: Coordinating the de-stuffing of containers, opening of packages for Open Package Inspections (OPI) by engineers, inspectors, and OEMs, and ensuring equipment is appropriately re-packaged and labelled for secure long-term storage. Safety & Compliance Leadership: Ensuring all logistics activities strictly adhere to the NSW Work Health and Safety Act and Regulations, relevant Australian Standards, Codes of Practice, and all statutory requirements, with a particular focus on safe practices around movements (forklift, crane, truck). Stakeholder Communication: Maintaining clear and effective communication channels with Area teams, Construction, MTEC, OEMs, and transport companies to ensure seamless project flow. Risk Management: Providing input into progress reports, identifying and reporting logistics risks, and contributing to mitigation strategies in line with risk management practices. Storage Management: Organising routine storage tasks, including equipment rotation to meet warranty requirements for extended storage. What You’ll Bring: Essential Experience & Skills: Proven experience in warehouse management and logistics , particularly in the safe and successful logistics support of large brownfield projects (>$100M). Competent and qualified in driving a forklift , with an overhead crane qualification highly regarded. Demonstrated commitment to safety, health, environment, and community , with a proficient understanding of Australian and NSW WH&S Acts, Regulations, and Codes of Practice. Strong ability to work effectively in cross-functional groups and thrive in a collaborative team environment. Highly organised with well-developed planning skills , including the ability to read project schedules, engineering drawings, and parts lists. Proficient in auditing safety and quality systems . Excellent oral and written communication skills and full proficiency in English. Working knowledge of capital/project processes and heavy industrial manufacturing facilities.
