This role will assist with prototype modelling, documentation and technical support of the product range and contribute to strategic product planning and identification of further opportunities. To be considered for this position you MUST: Complete assigned product development projects Assist in the development of project briefs with project stake holders Undertake concept development, detailed design and consultation with stake holders Complete costing analysis and budgeting for product development projects Complete manufacturing and feasibility analyses Participate in the commercialisation of products Provide detailed reporting on project progress to Product Design Team Leader Assist with manufacture of prototype models and samples Liaise with component suppliers, toolmakers and consultants as required Provide technical support on product range and applications to internal & external customers Take full accountability for personal safety and well-being, develop an understanding of risk minimisation and be committed to achieving the highest possible standards for Safety, Health and the Environment (SH&E) Other key accountabilities appropriate to the banding of the position as determined by the manager of the role SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL: Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design or similar Experience in various product design, development and engineering roles, particularly in the areas of plastic moulding, metal forming or aluminium extrusion design Proven IT skills including full working knowledge of AutoCAD drafting and 3D modelling software High attention to detail and the ability to visualise concepts Advanced problem-solving capability Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritise to meet requirements Strong procedural and documentation skills and an awareness of quality management principles DESIRABLE Hands on experience in an aluminium fabrication role Knowledge of aluminium press tooling principles and processes Experience in intellectual property creation and protection principles Applicants must also be prepared to undertake and pass a pre-employment medical inclusive of drug and alcohol test.
