This role is ideally suited for drivers located near the Epping or Thomastown areas. A typical day starts in Melbourne, collecting loads from suppliers before heading to Ballarat. There, you’ll deliver the supplier loads, pick up customer shipments, and then drop them off at various sites before wrapping up for the day. Description Truck Driver Responsibilities Safely transport a variety of loads across scheduled routes, ensuring timely and secure deliveries every day Maintain up-to-date and valid HR licence and any other required endorsements, adhering to all legal and regulatory requirements Secure all loads correctly using appropriate strapping and restraint methods to prevent damage or accidents during transit Strictly obey all road rules, traffic laws and company safety policies, demonstrating a commitment to safe driving practices Conduct pre-trip, en-route and post-trip inspections of vehicles to identify and report any mechanical issues or hazards Perform routine vehicle maintenance tasks such as checking oil, tyre pressure, lights and brakes to ensure the vehicle remains roadworthy Manage loading and unloading duties where required, working closely with site personnel to facilitate efficient turnaround times Complete accurate delivery paperwork and reports, including logbooks, delivery dockets and vehicle inspection forms Communicate effectively with dispatch, suppliers and clients to coordinate schedules and resolve any delivery issues Maintain personal fitness and wellbeing to meet the physical demands of the role and operate vehicles safely throughout the shift Exhibit professionalism and represent the company positively when interacting with clients, contractors and site staff Skills And Experiences Valid HR licence (or larger) with a clean driving record Proven experience driving heavy vehicles, preferably within transport, logistics, construction or industrial supply environments Strong knowledge of load restraint techniques and safety standards A care factor, someone who takes pride in their work and cares about others, not just themselves Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance and identify mechanical issues Good understanding of road rules, traffic laws and safety regulations Experience completing delivery documentation accurately and on time Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise professionally with dispatch, clients and site personnel Strong time management skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines Sense of humour and ability to see the lighter side of situations Forklift licence and White Card are highly desirable but not essential Physically fit and capable of handling the demands of loading, unloading and long hours on the road Reliable, punctual and committed to maintaining high safety and work standards
