About the Opportunity We are seeking a motivated Electrical Design Engineer to join our team, where you will play a crucial role in creating detailed, high quality electrical designs, calculations, reports and specifications for station electrical systems for a variety of major infrastructure projects. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven engineer or equivalent to contribute to impactful projects while growing within a dynamic team. Role Responsibilities: Function as part of a team of electrical engineers for delivery of detailed design for major infrastructure projects. Interpret and understand the Project Scope and Technical Requirements related to LV Electrical Systems. Delivery of detailed electrical design, calculations, reports and specifications for station electrical systems including: Low Voltage Distribution UPS and critical power distribution Lighting (including emergency and exit) General Power Cable containment Earthing and Bonding Metering Major component procurement specifications Installation specifications Control System Interface Information Liaise with architects, structural and civil disciplines to communicate requirements and develop fully coordinated design outcomes. Work with Principal Electrical Engineers to develop standard ways of working and contribute to improving these outcomes. Perform self-check of work undertaken and actively participate in the design review process. Participate and contribute to peer review and multi-disciplinary review sessions for design assurance purposes. Working in collaboration with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design. Participate in safety in design workshops and actively implement outcomes. Understand how to work within project program timelines and actively forecast duration of key activities. Strict management of Interface deliverable milestones and observance of agreed review timeframes. Manage compliance with Project Scope and Technical Requirements and maintain DOORS database for relevant requirements. Develop procurement specifications and scopes of work to facilitate procurement of equipment. Conduct detailed technical reviews of supplier offers and assist with bid evaluation. Engage with selected suppliers to incorporate product specific details into detailed design submissions. Consider constructability in all design outcomes and consult with relevant team members to ensure that design outcomes are constructible. Required Experience: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (or equivalent) 3 - 10 years’ experience working on design of LV electrical systems for major infrastructure projects. Detailed technical understanding of electrical engineering principals, specifically: HV distribution, LV network configuration, LV distribution, LV protection, Earthing, discrimination, Maximum Demand, Fault Loop, Voltage Drop, Cable Sizing, Lighting design, Motors and drives, Light and Power, Emergency and Exit Lighting, redundancy and reliability. Experience using electrical engineering design and calculation software for integrated project delivery. This should include Power CAD, AGi32 (or similar). Working knowledge of relevant Australian Standards. Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team for delivery of Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic and Fire and Life Safety services. Dedication to “Safety in Design" principles. Proven experience in production of design deliverables and compiling consolidated design packages and outcomes. Ability to work autonomously. In depth understanding of engineering drawing production and drafting / modelling workflows. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Additional Preferred Experience: Chartered Professional Engineer, CPEng (or similar) – prepared to engage in this development pathway. Current or existing RIW System “Job Roles” containing designer, checker or approver. Experience in the design of HV systems. Previous design experience on Australian based major projects. Previous rail projects. Building services projects. Heavy Industrial or process projects. Design experience using BIM and digital engineering tools. Understanding of constructability issues. Control System design experience. Electrical Fire system design experience.
