For our business, for clients, and for you Associate Legal Counsel Brisbane / Melbourne Description This role is a member of our Asia Pacific Legal Team to be a trusted adviser and support Apex’s legal function to provide legal advice & strategic support. Job specification To provide legal support on Apex Superannuation’s fund administration business General scope of work as expected from in-house counsel would fall within the coverage of this role and this will entail contracting, commercial support and various contentious and non-contentious matters. Supporting various projects, including Apex’s M&A projects leading to the successful integration with the M&A targets. Handle and advise on contracting including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating diversified contracts with clients and internal stakeholders. Design, develop and maintain contract templates. Handle and advise on litigations, arbitrations and regulatory investigations as well as working with enforcement agents as appropriate and manage external counsel. Keep abreast of the legal and regulatory changes and advise the Apex Superannuation business and Apex Australian entities as appropriate. Skills Required: Qualified Australian lawyer with at least 3 to 5 years post-qualification experience and in similar role with success track record. Inhouse legal experience will be an added advantage. Experience in dealing with superannuation regulations and prudential standards is a plus. Strong management skill, people management skill (including working well with stakeholders around the world) and project management skill, excellent problem-solving and analytical capability, being able to work independently and working as a team player. Solid experience and proven track record An ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Excellent interpersonal, drafting and communications skills.
