W Sydney is now casting for a dynamic and passionate Director of Sales to lead the sales team in maximising total revenue for W Sydney across all market segments, with a focus on acquisition and retention of business. Collaborating closely with the Director of Sales & Marketing, this role directly drives revenue and increases market share across rooms, Beverage & Food, group, FIT, spa, and other revenue generating sources in line with W Hotels and Marriott International’s brand standards. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES With support from the Director of Sales & Marketing, primary responsibilities for the Director of Sales include: Representing the W brand in all sales activities in line with W Hotels and Marriott International’s corporate strategies The day-to-day leadership, coaching, recruitment, and management of sales associates working in the department Develop, grow, sustain, maximise, and yield business across the Groups, Corporate, MICE, Wholesale, Entertainment and High-end Leisure segments to exceed budgeted revenue Build and maintain close working relationships with Marriott International’s Global Sales Team network to maximise business for W Sydney Develop and foster strong working relationships with (not limited to) key global, national, and local corporate clients for both corporate FIT and events business, PCOs, TMCs, OTAs, Entertainment agencies/Tour Managers, MICE agencies and corporate travel agencies Undertake and arrange Insider Tours and Familiarisation programs for clients across segmentations with strong potential to produce business for W Sydney (this may involve time outside of normal business working hours and familiarisation weekends) Represent W Sydney and Marriott International at relevant functions, tradeshows, conventions, and events which may include interstate and overseas sales trips Conduct development and performance reviews with direct sales team reports, identifying key personnel for further development and structured career pathing Responsible for effective recruitment, training and development certification, performance evaluation, turnover reduction, and optimisation of productivity Develop, implement, and maintain a training plan to ensure a high-quality presentation and level of customer service within the team from time of induction Identify, execute, and implement promotions, strategies, and special events within the sales client remit Be fully versed across all relevant Marriott International loyalty programs to maximise business opportunities for W Sydney Share in the establishment and preparation of the annual hotel Business Plan for rooms, B&F and minor operating departments as required Prepare monthly outlooks and forecast reports with by market segments comments, future actions and results for Owner’s and General Manager Reports Be able to work under pressure with the focus on leading, motivating and empowering the sales team to achieve W Sydney’s performance metrics Work closely with the Group, Catering and Event Sales Leader to develop and implement strategies to maximise MICE business Support the Marketing team on attendance of, and promotion to, clients to W events and programming which are scheduled in line with the annual marketing plan and expectations of the W brand team. These will be on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis to enable both brand and PR goals to be met. Work in conjunction with the Director of Revenue and Director of Sales & Marketing to ensure all Marriott International programs and systems are fully maximised Be an early adopter and champion for innovation, as the W brand has been since inception, to deliver and exceed budgeted revenues for the hotel, channel engagement and enhanced guest experience TALENT PROFILE Minimum two years’ experience as a Director of Sales in a 5-star/luxury international hotel brand Possess excellent verbal and written communication and Microsoft Office skills, and exceptional attention to detail Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong time management, interpersonal and leadership skills Experience in leadership, management and coaching of a team LIFE WITH THE WORKS We believe in the power of people.
