We are seeking a highly experienced and proactive Senior Electrical Engineer to oversee the integrity, reliability, and performance of an aging operational asset that includes a high-voltage (HV) electrical network and a diverse range of electrical switchgear and equipment. This role is critical in ensuring the continued safe and efficient operation of legacy infrastructure while planning for modernisation and risk mitigation. By working closely with tradesmen and supervisors, the Senior Electrical Engineer will provide real-time technical guidance and oversee essential compliance requirements. This role is essential to enhancing reliability, reducing operational bottlenecks, and ensuring continuity across critical site functions. This role will be offered on a part time basis of 24 hours per week, with an opportunity to grow. Key responsibilities of the role include (but are not limited to): Assist in instrumentation replacements, ensuring new instruments are like-for-like or obtaining necessary Management of Change (MOC) approvals. Conduct instrumentation calibration, resolving discrepancies between data sheets and manufacturing specifications. Provide technical fault-finding support to reduce rectification delays. Review and sign off on hazardous area issues, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Oversee HV switching approvals, addressing delays in obtaining required signoffs. Assess aging electrical infrastructure, including switchgear and transformers, recommending preventative maintenance strategies. Update, redraft, or create missing technical drawings to ensure accurate system documentation. Provide on-call engineering guidance to tradesmen and supervisors, reducing downtime caused by troubleshooting delays. Act as a technical liaison between site teams and engineering resources. Qualifications & Experience Required: Bachelor’s degree in electrical or Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent qualification. RPEQ registration Experience in instrumentation calibration, hazardous area compliance, and HV systems. Familiarity with Control Systems (SCADA, PLC, HMI) and troubleshooting. 10 years’ experience within an Electrical Engineer position Experience within packages of work on Oil and Gas projects within Australia Demonstrated experience interacting and engaging with various teams within a business i.e. Corporate and field based.
