Senior Director, Sales APAC — Haymarket, Sydney

Description Job Summary The Senior Director of Sales, APAC will lead a team of sales professionals to create and deliver revenue for Oxford Nanopore Technologies within the region. They will be responsible, along with the VP APAC Commercial and Sr Regional Commercial team, for creating and delivering the strategic business plan for APAC. Focusing on defining and implementing a sales strategy for APAC to set regional sales targets, manage tactical and operational delivery of the company agreed targets in industrial, clinical and academic research life sciences accounts. Key responsibilities With a proven track record in genomic life sciences and clinical across early stage and established organizations, we seek a team player who understands disruptive strategy and will drive the activities required to take ONT to the next stage of commercial growth. This role will have leadership and overall line management responsibility for the APAC sales team (e.g. ANZ, Greater China, SEA, Japan), including field and inside sales with around 30 people. In additional this role will act as the commercial lead for APAC, representing ONT’s broader strategic interests in the region where required in the marketplace. This role will work cross-functionally both regionally and globally to ensure that the activities of Marketing, Applications and Market Development teams are aligned with the sales activities to meet and exceed commercial expectations. To achieve these goals this role will be required to undertake regional travel, and be based within the Region. Duties: Duties include, but are not limited to: Strategic planning of commercial activity with senior sales leaders and executive team to disrupt the existing NGS market, expand penetration and extend into new markets by applying knowledge of funding cycles and decision making processes within the region Develop, lead and motivate the APAC sales team to deliver aggressive sales growth according to the business strategy Interrogate, manage and communicate device and consumable forecasting and trends Deliver profitable revenue growth across ONT’s full product portfolio, ensuring commercial KPIs are met or exceeded across key APAC territories Define team-specific KPIs and work with regional sales managers to ensure compliance with best practice sales process, ensure teams stay up to date on technical innovations from ONT, customers and the market Work effectively with managers across the company (in Marketing, Technical Services, Commercial Operations, Business & Market Development, Government Affairs) to ensure alignment and efficiency and continuous improvement in commercial execution Develop strong internal relationships with executive teams delivering outcomes as required Identify, build and nurture high level KOL relationships in priority areas Any other duties as might be required within the remit and responsibilities of the post. What We're Looking For… Essential Requirements: Advanced Degree in molecular biology, genomics or equivalent experience >15 years Extensive track record as a commercial leader in an equivalent industry, selling products and/or services within APAC. Excellence in setting sales strategy, building and leading remote teams and utilising a consultative selling process Life Sciences and Diagnostic industry experience, know-how and established network across Research Life Sciences, Biotech, Healthcare, Pharmaceutical industries Strong management skills and an ability to manage, coach and develop high performing teams Strong knowledge of genomics, clinical and/life sciences field alongside extensive commercial experience Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills Commercial and Financial acumen incl multi year sales planning, forecasting and reporting Pragmatic, well-developed decision-making and negotiation skills Able to develop high-impact disruptive sales strategy and, working with a team, drive initiatives from ideation to completion An ability to understand the needs of the internal and external stakeholders keeping them in mind when taking actions or making decisions Excellent public presentation skills Self-motivated, diligent and a great communicator Confidence, tact and can-do attitude Not afraid to challenge the status quo A team player who creates an environment of trust and respect for all Able to lead with autonomy, effectively influence and bring others along with you. Desirable Requirements: PhD, Post graduate study in related scientific field/business field Experience in value proposition generation and related content production Experience selling with a dynamic high growth company Experience building multi-year sales strategies Knowledge of key market requirements for research and clinical sales in APAC Working with a CRM or data analysis tool to track activity and forecasting trends Act as sponsor and advocate for change management and impact LI-MW1 LI-remote
