About the role We are currently recruiting for an Engineering Officer to join the Asset Engineering team within our Assets and Operations division for a 12 month fixed term contract. This role can be based anywhere within Essential Energy’s operational footprint. The Engineering Officer’s role is crucial in supporting the mandated replacement of type 5 and 6 meters by 2030, as directed by the Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC). You will be responsible for the development, planning and coordination of projects relating to multioccupancy shared fuse sites. Facilitating effective collaboration between Essential Energy and Metering Providers to achieve seamless meter exchanges with minimal disruption to customers. Key accountabilities: • Provide technical expertise and support to Meter Providers for complex site network outages. • Coordinate and plan meter replacements at complex sites, such as blocks of flats/units with shared fuses. • Ensure compliance with the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) requirements and minimise the retention of legacy type 5 and 6 meters on Essential Energy’s network. • Develop and design technical work packets, assist management in data analysis and budget planning, and contribute to planning and design development for various technical Energy Network projects. About You You will have experience in a technical role within the Energy/Electrical or Utilities Industry, with a solid understanding of meter replacements, statutory requirements, and safety rules. You will be skilled in managing both planned and unplanned events, providing effective technical solutions. Your problem-solving and decision-making skills will be strong, and you will address critical issues efficiently. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be essential, along with the ability to deliver technical services professionally. You will be flexible, self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing a complex workload. Required Qualifications • Diploma of Electrical Engineering or demonstrated capability through past employment experience and/or relevant qualifications • White Card - WorkCover Induction for Construction Work - General Course • Drivers Licence • Attainment and ongoing successful maintenance of all regulatory, industry and business required licences, authorisations and other such certificates deemed necessary for the role.
