Position Overview The Engineering Technologist will play a critical role in the operation, setup, and performance optimisation of mesh welding systems. This role combines hands-on operation of machinery with engineering-level oversight to ensure optimal weld quality, efficient changeovers, and consistent machine performance in a high-volume manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities : Operate and monitor mesh welding machines during daily production, ensuring alignment with engineering specifications. Lead and perform changeovers of mesh welding systems, including mechanical and parameter adjustments to suit varied wire diameters and mesh configurations. Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve mechanical and electrical issues affecting weld quality, machine speed, or output. Conduct regular system checks and ensure machinery operates within set safety and quality standards. Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to implement improvements in machine reliability and setup efficiency. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing downtime, enhancing weld integrity, and improving changeover speed. Assist with the training of machine operators in setup processes and quality checks. Maintain accurate records of machine adjustments, settings, and performance metrics. Qualifications and Experience : Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field. 1 years' experience in a hands-on engineering or advanced machine operation role, preferably in mesh welding or automated wire processing. Strong understanding of mechanical systems, electrical sensors, and welding principles. Ability to interpret technical drawings and machine schematics. Practical experience with machine diagnostics, process optimisation, and setup/changeovers. Excellent attention to detail and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
