Mills Recruitment is seeking a Structural or Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in maintenance, inspections, and refurbishments of bulk materials handling equipment such as bucket wheels, conveyors, stackers and reclaimers. The Role As a Structural/Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in equipment reliability, maintenance planning, and performance optimisation. Your responsibilities will include: Operations & Maintenance: Conducting mechanical and structural inspections, troubleshooting issues, and developing maintenance strategies. Equipment Performance & Reliability: Assessing and improving balance machines, hydraulic systems, slew bearings, and conveyor structures. Site-Based Work: Supporting shutdowns, refurbishments, and commissioning activities as required. Compliance & Reporting: Ensuring safety, quality, and regulatory compliance, while preparing detailed technical reports. Refurbishments & Upgrades: Enhancing existing OEM equipment and optimising structural and mechanical components. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborating with clients, contractors, and internal teams to ensure seamless execution of maintenance and upgrade projects. About You Degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering with a focus on site-based maintenance and inspections. Extensive experience with Balance Machinery, refurbishments, and asset life extension strategies. Hands-on experience in mechanical and structural integrity assessments of bulk materials handling equipment. Proven track record working with Rio Tinto, BHP, FMG, or other major mining clients preferred. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and optimise equipment performance. Willingness to travel to site for shutdowns, commissioning, and maintenance support. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
