About the role The Senior Project Engineer (Development) - Structures, Civil & Facilities is responsible for executing infrastructure projects within the Major Periodic Maintenance (MPM) Program. This role focuses on the identification and development of projects related to structures, civil, and facilities assets, ensuring compliance with V/Line’s standards and obligations. Additionally, the role emphasizes maintaining a safe work environment through effective risk management. Key accountabilities include: · Engineering and project management : Provide ongoing support for the planning and development of the MPM Program. · Stakeholder engagement : Liaise with stakeholders to document compliance requirements and ensure practical, cost-effective solutions. · Project evaluation : Analyse and compare project options to select the optimal solution based on assessments and stakeholder needs. · Site coordination : Oversee site investigations, including surveys and inspections, to develop accurate designs and costings. · Technical support : Offer engineering advice and ensure all designs align with V/Line’s Design Management Process. · Safety and compliance : Coordinate Safety in Design workshops, manage risks, and comply with Safety Management of Change requirements. · Collaboration and approvals : Work with Asset Planning Engineers on project scope, budget, and timeline, and obtain necessary approvals within specified timeframes. About you The Senior Project Engineer (Development) – Structures, Civil & Facilities is someone with extensive experience in managing infrastructure projects within the rail industry. They are adept at project identification, planning, and execution, ensuring compliance with internal and external standards. The candidate must also be capable of maintaining a safe work environment and effectively managing risks. Our ideal candidate will possess: · Vast experience working with multiple business stakeholders in a complex matrix environment, particularly in the design and/or delivery of structure or civil projects related to railway or large-scale transport infrastructure. · Proven experience in railway structure design, maintenance, and renewal, along with a strong understanding of project and program management principles, methods, and techniques. · Demonstrated ability to manage government agency stakeholders and collaborate across multiple areas to achieve business objectives. · Precision in project planning and execution, effective team leadership, conflict resolution skills, flexibility in dynamic project environments, and innovative problem-solving abilities. · Ability to comply with safety management requirements, including obtaining necessary approvals and managing changes in scope, budget, and schedule. · Demonstrated alignment to V/Line’s values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights.
